    Arrive in Beijing at any time. Included Activities: Arrival Day and Welcome Meeting

    Discover the fascinating history of the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, then join the throngs of locals and hop on a bike to explore the citys ancient hutongs for a couple of hours. Included Activities: Tiananmen Square Forbidden City Tour Hutong Cycling Tour
    Day 3GubeikouDay 3 Beijing/Gubeikou (1D)
    Leave Beijing behind and head out into the countryside for a trek along the Great Wall. Begin the trek from Mutianyu, heading for the village of Gubeikou. At night, interact with rural farmers over a traditional Chinese meal at a homestay. Additional Notes: The homes along the Great Wall have simple but good bathing and shower facilities.     Continue trekking along the Great Wall. Start from Gubeikou and head towards the Jinshanling portion of the Great Wall. The Wall is less crowded at this point and the scenery is spectacular along the way. From Jinshanling, return to Beijing to catch the overnight train to Luoyang. Additional Notes: Please note that due to restoration and maintenance of the Jinshanling section of the Great Wall, portions of the trek may be altered.     Day 5Song ShanDay 5 Song Shan
    In the morning, arrive by train to Luoyang. From Luoyang, transfer to the holy mountain of Song Shan and spend the night. Explore the Shaolin Temple, birth place of China Zen Buddhism and UNESCO World Heritage site. Established in 495 AD, martial arts have been practiced here for 1500 years as a way to practice Zen Buddhism.     Day 6Song ShanDay 6 Song Shan
    Known as one of the five sacred Daoist Mountains of China, Dengfeng Shan, or Mount Song is a unique rock mountain containing many valleys, caves, pools, waterfalls, and steep cliffs. Recognized as an International Geological Park due to its unique landscape, its peaks can reach up to 1512 meters above sea level.     Day 7Xi'anDay 7 Song Shan/Xi'an
    In the morning, opt to visit the Longmen Grottoes. The Longmen Grottoes represents some of Chinas best Buddhist art. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the carvings display thousands of images of Buddha and his disciples. From Longmen, take a high speed train to Xian (arriving in the evening), and transfer to the hotel.     Day 8Xi'anDay 8 Xi'an
    Xian is one of many cities that was once capital of the great Chinese empire. Gather for an orientation walk exploring the inner city, which is surrounded by 14km (9 mi) of ancient city walls. Weather permitting, visit these walls by bike during our time in Xian. In the evening, explore the Muslim Quarter, with its Great Mosque, multicultural feel, shopping lanes, and street food stalls selling a large variety of food, including naan, kebabs, and lots of sweets.     Day 9YangshuoDay 9 Xi'an/Yangshuo
    Enjoy some free time wandering the city or visit the world famous Terracotta Warriors. Departing from Xian, take a flight to Guilin (arriving in the morning) and transfer by public bus to the small countryside town of Yangshuo, where the Li River winds its way around thousands of limestone karst mountains.     In the morning, enjoy an orientation walk of Yangshuo. Every turn in the road brings you to another picture-postcard sight. Take a boat ride along the stunning Li River, stop at markets and picturesque villages along the way, or observe one of the local traditions: cormorant fishing. Enjoy a leisurely evening. Experience some of Yangshuos famous nightlife or see the Liu San Jie, a 500 person show by Oscar winning director, Zhang Yi Mou -- he also directed the Beijing Olympic Ceremony.     Cycle out over the mostly flat fields to get more of a feel for the region. Ride past rice paddies with water buffalo and stare up at towering limestone karsts.     Longji is famous for its centuries old rice terraces, often referred to as the Dragons Backbone, built along forested mountain slopes that seem to poke into the clouds. Check out the unique wooden architecture of the local Zhuang and Yao people.
